Arla farmers make Open Farm Sunday Arla’s most successful yet
Following months of hard work, more than sixty Arla farms have taken part in Open Farm Sunday this year. Many more farmer owners and Arla colleagues also helped on the day, making our third Open Farm Sunday Arla’s most successful yet.
Our Arla farms welcomed nearly 80,000 visitors through their gates, which is an Arla record! Visitors were greeted with friendly smiles, Arla product sampling and a host of information about what really happens on a dairy farm.
This is the third year Arla has got behind and supported our farmers on Open Farm Sunday and it didn’t disappoint, with the Arla Festival Farm at Manor Farm, run by the Burridge family, attracting more than 5,500 visitors, showcasing live events including chef demonstrations, games for children and much more.. Alongside sampling some of our fantastic Arla products, all our farms featured modernised messages to empower the next generation to #EatStronger, and bust the myths around some of the top food concerns. Social media was abuzz with great pictures and tweets from farmers and visitors to events across the country.
Graham Wilkinson, senior director member relations in the UK, shared his thoughts on this year’s event; “I cannot thank the our farmer owners enough for opening their gates to the public on Open Farm Sunday 2018. I do not underestimate the time, effort and dedication that goes in to preparing for such a big day to ensure everything came together just right to make the day special for the public. I was glad to see that the sun shone down on us once again!
Open Farm Sunday is a fantastic way to share our story and educate people on the benefits of dairy and it’s natural credentials. As well as our farmers’ commitment it would not have been possible to deliver such a successful event without everyone who supported in some way, we even had farmers who did not open their farms joining those who did to support them. I feel very privileged work alongside people who have such passion and dedication to give up their own time on a weekend to help deliver such an amazing event. Here’s to next year.”
